
Sophie is our newest member of the teaching staff. Originally from West Wales, Sophie grew up performing in local musical theatre shows and concerts. She also competed in Welsh “Eisteddfod” competitions, winning on numerous occasions. Sophie was a member of the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, National Youth Choir of Wales and National Youth Choir of Great Britain. With these choirs Sophie performed across the world including Argentina, China, France, America and Canada. As well as singing, Sophie also plays the harp, piano and saxophone.
Having attended local schools in Aberystwyth, Sophie was awarded a Music Scholarship to Christ College Brecon where she attended Sixth Form and gained her Singing Grade 8 with Distinction from ABRSM. Following on from this she attended Durham University and read Music gaining a 2:1. Whilst at Durham, Sophie was an active member of the musical community. She was Manager of the Durham University Chamber Choir, a Choral Scholar and Tour Manager for the Hatfield College Chapel Choir and produced a number of productions for the Durham Opera Ensemble. Following her undergraduate studies, Sophie gained an MSc in Management also from Durham University. Upon finishing her studies, Sophie was one of two individuals awarded a Full Palatinate for Outstanding Contribution to Music and Drama.
Having recently moved to the Isle of Man, Sophie is delighted to have joined the team and looks forward to an exciting year with Stage One.
