Musical Theatre Coach

Sonia has spent many years in local theatre and has gained experience both as a performer and working on production teams for musicals, plays, shows and concerts in a variety of roles including director, choreographer and stage manager. Over the last few years Sonia has been on the production team of a number prestigious shows, which include: The Queen’s Jubilee Trust Farewell Concert for Air Marshall Ian Macfadden hosted by Aled Jones (2005); Breast Care’s Fashion for Life and Fashion for Life 2 (2005 & 2007); Raise the Roof (2007 & 2008); The Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence (2006, 2007 & 2008).

As a member of the Douglas Choral Union since 1979, Sonia has appeared in many productions whilst also having the opportunity to choreograph some musicals for them. Her most notable being Me & My Girl in 1997 for which she won a NODA Award.

As a performer, Sonia has most recently played Felicia Gabriel in The Witches of Eastwick (DCU), Miss Flannery in Thoroughly Modern Millie (DCU), The Nurse in Romeo & Juliet (Manx Ballet Company) and Sergeant What in Jack & The Beanstalk (DreamStar).

As a promoter for the future of local theatre, Sonia is one-third of DreamStar Productions who have produced a number of local pantomimes at the Gaiety Theatre, one-half of Jaxon Productions who produce Summer children’s workshops and she is also the Musical Theatre Coach at Stage One Drama School.

In 2009 Sonia was the Assistant Director for the Douglas Choral Union’s production of Les Miserables.

Most recently Sonia appeared as The Wicked Stepmother in Dreamstar’s production of Cinderella at the Gaiety Theatre.
