OUR STORY

Stage One was established in 1993 by Principal Jacqui Hawkes, Cert. Ed Drama (University of London). The school started with one drama class of ten students aged 8 – 12 and over the years has grown into a thriving and popular school offering classes in Speech, Drama and Musical Theatre.

Over the years the team has expanded with former student, Alexandra Batey, joining as Head of Musical Theatre and also co-director of the Drama classes alongside Jacqui. We were also fortunate to have the brilliant Naomi Cole who joined us in 2024 as Musical Director, supporting our senior classes.

We currently have over 140 students attending a total of ten classes a week. In addition to weekly group lessons, we offer a solo skills class for students wishing to compete in The Manx Music Festival.

Students are prepared for Group exams following the Trinity Guildhall syllabus in Acting, Musical Theatre, Performance Arts and Choral Speaking.

Stage One Classes are held in Onchan Village Hall, Royal Avenue, Onchan.
